My current interests focus on clinical and policy issues associated with the use of psychoactive substances. I have a particular interest in privacy and confidentiality,  ethical issues associated with substance use policy, innovations associated with behavioral health prevention and treatment, health information technology and general health policy.  Behavioral Health issues are often ignored but play a major role in people’s lives.  From a public health and public safety perspective, the biological and social determinants of health are essential considerations for society.  During the 2015-2016 academic year, I joined the National Advisory Council of the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Dr. Westley Clark, Dean’s Executive Professor, holds appointments in Public Health and, since 2015, also in Psychology.   Santa Clara University.
